Disclosure

Most of the books I read are either purchased by me or borrowed from my library.

I do also receive review copies of some books from authors, publishers, etc.  I will include a “Review Copy” tag on all reviews of books that were given to me for that purpose.  It’s important for me to note that I do not receive any compensation beyond a review copy of the book.  I have never been asked to only post a positive review or any other stipulation when agreeing to review a book.  I do not accept any book for review that has any stipulations attached to the request.  I only agree to give my honest opinion of the book once I finish reading it.  I do not sell review copies of the books or profit from them in any way.  If the author or publisher agrees, I may give away or donate the book at my discretion.

Why am I telling you all this?  Well, the FTC has said in this really long document that bloggers who blog about any goods or services and receive compensation for said goods or services must disclose the connection to the provider of the goods or services. According to the FTC this constitutes an “endorsement.”  And review copies of books seem to fall in this category.

Also, I frequently include links to purchase books featured on the blog.  Some of these links are directly to an author or publisher’s website and I receive zero compensation for those links.

Some links I post are to retail outlets where you can purchase books, ebooks, audiobooks and/or reading accessories.  I am an affiliate for some of these retailers.  If you make a purchase from one of these retail outlets after clicking the link from this blog, I do make a small commission on the sale.  The commissions I make help offset the cost of operating this blog including domain registration, web hosting, etc.  Anything left over is used to buy more books so I can post more reviews 🙂
