Today’s guest post is from Tammy T., one of my favorite people!  Tammy is a fellow book lover and she has a wicked sense of humor.  Most days, she’s the one who keeps me sane…

Whiplash River by Lou Berney, although a sequel to Gutshot Straight, stands on its own.  The main character, Shake, while losing the peace of mind he has worked hard to create becomes inevitably intertwined with an interesting cast of characters.

In the midst of his life literally hanging in the balance, he tries to resurrect an old flame, solve the enigma that is Harrigan Quinn who he begrudgingly partners up with, and dig himself out of the hole that is sure to consume him.

The storyline starts a little slow, but gains speed as it progresses.  Though the other characters come across as more complex and intriguing than the main character, the plot unfolds to reveal an unexpected ending for all players involved.

I would be interested in seeing additional books in the series that tell the stories of Evelyn Holly, a pseudo love interest and Harrigan Quinn, a charming storyteller filled with an endless supply of anecdotes.

I give this book 3.5 sunshines.
